41mm Bore Foam Cell

For all-round performance, you can't go past Tough Dog's award-winning Foam Cell shock absorbers. They're outstanding equipment on and off-road, no matter how often you're traveling. This shock absorber contains a micro-cellular foam insert which causes a substantial reduction in shock fade. This means you get longer-wearing and higher-performing shock absorbers. 

The main reason for the 41mm foam cell's unparalleled resistance to shock fade is its ability to eliminate the bubbles that form, i.e., cavitation and aeration. When a shock absorber is pushed to perform, the oil and gas in the outer chamber start to mix and form bubbles. When this happens, the viscosity of the oil is reduced and as the oil passes through the valve, the resistance is reduced and the shock absorber begins to underperform. The 41mm Foam Cell insert, with its trapped gas microcells, takes up that empty space and protects the shock absorber.

Tough Dog adjustable shocks are built tough for the tough Aussie outback.  Its ABS plastic dust shield serves as an external dust wiper seal and protects the shock absorber's insides from grit, which otherwise can lead to damage to the oil seals around the chrome rod. When fully extended, the shock is at its most vulnerable to damage from side load. The internal bump stop and piston rod guide ensure the shock is supported at the extremes of its travel.

45mm Big Bore Foam Cell Adjustable

The Tough Dog 45mm bore in a 70mm casing is one mega shock absorber. These are the largest bore externally adjustable shocks available and they're miles ahead of anything else. In addition to the benefits of the 40mm adjustable, as detailed above, the 45mm big bore adjustable is designed for big lift applications - up to six inches over the factory in some vehicles.  The big bore shocks also have a DU bushing fitted internally to protect the seals from damage caused by side load at full extension.
